We are delighted with the response from various schools and look forward to a very exciting 3-day Robotics Fest.
Dates: 27th , 28th , 29th September
Venue: Pathways School Gurgaon, Baliawas , Off Gurgaon Faridabad Road
Timings : 8.30 am - 3.30 pm
The first day started with an opening ceremony.
Students of Pathways Gurgaon danced a robotic dance choreographed by our talented teacher Mr. Pradeep.
This was followed by a plenary session by Dr Manish Sharma , Professor IIT Delhi.
Dr Sharma completed his B.Tech(Hons) from IIT Kharagpur in 1991. He then did an M.S. and Ph.D. from Stanford University . During 2000-2006, he worked in the HP Research Labs in Palo Alto, CA working on materials for magnetic RAM (MRAM) and on MEMS-based biological sensors. Since Feb 2006 he is at IIT Delhi.
Synopsis of the talk he gave today :
Robotics today is an exciting field. We now design robots for many applications: for surgery, in space, in the industry and of course as toys
Computers that are extremely fast compared to logic boards used a decade ago, robots can do large number of computations and take autonomous decisions. Using sensors, they can directly see, hear and feel their surroundings. They can talk, touch things, even exhibit emotions using facial expressions.
In this talk, he showed how robots have changed over the last 50 years. He spoke about how we use many day-to-day robots that are real engineering wonders but also are now common to our daily lives. We will also try to predict what robots can be expected to do in the coming 50 years that will make them truly close to the way robots are depicted in science fiction. Please look at the attached Power Point Presentation.
Session II
Introduction to the robotics kit and to the various sensors, motors, assembling and programming was done . The children made robots using sound and ultrasonic sensors.
Session III
After lunch they were given challenges where they were required to implement the learnings of the morning. We had a quiz based on their learning.
