Session 1 : Plenary session by Dr Lekha Nair .
She has done her M.Sc. in Physics from the IIT, Madras and Ph.D. from Rutgers University, U.SA. She is currently working at the Department of Physics, Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi. Her research interests are in the areas of Surface Physics, Electron and Ion Beam interactions with Materials and Nanostructures
She spoke about the scientific method ; the latest findings of the CERN laboratory, discussed the debate in news papers about Einstein and explained that the experiment done at CERN will have to be authenticated independently by at least 2 or 3 other laboratories before scientists come up with new theories. Her linking of the experiment at CERN with Galileo Galilee experiment on the leaning tower of Pisa was interesting .
Session 2
Presentation By Mr. David: HOD Design And Technology, Pathways Gurgaon
View more presentations from robongiers.
David Fletcher , HOD Design and Technology , then took us through the design process and explained that it is not rocket science ! In fact we actually use the design cycle inadvertently when we perform the simplest of tasks in our day to day life !
He has given a task which the schools need to complete and return by tomorrow !
Afternoon Session
While students moved on to more stimulating challenges, Teachers from various participating schools had an interactive session on assembling Legomindstorm Kits. Attendees also experienced first hand on how robotic activities can be used to teach science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
