Day 3- 2011

On the second day itself the participating teams had been given the final challenge. Throughout the morning they worked on building and programming the robot. At 12 noon they had the first round .
Now they are working on reprogramming to get rid of the glitches !
Pranay Jain, our school student council president, had this to say …the last three days have been completely action packed. For the participants they have been educational, inspirational, challenging and I am sure filled with momentary bursts of adrenaline rush.
For the rest of us, awe-inspiring, for what these young minds are capable of!
The closing ceremony started with  the soothing renditions of  Tarana in Raga Bhairavi in Teen Taal.  Essentially a morning raga, Raga Bhairavi can be sung at any time of day and today this raag was  performed by 5 talented singers of our Middle School – Shefali Yadav, Tara Nouri, Anshima Verma, Riya Vasudev and Alisha Khanduja. Seven notes are used in this raga, with Re, Ga, Dha and Ni being ‘komal swars’ i.e. flat notes.
This was followed by a presentation by Mr. Dashra, the Design and Technology Teacher in our Middle School who gave  us his insights into the process of making the trophies for the event, linked to the Design Cycle.
Grade 6 students then regaled us with their own composition, “Ozone” –  based on a popular English melody.  This song highlights the vital importance of the preservation of the environment  to avoid catastrophic consequences for all living things on our planet.

The Robongiers Fest was conceptualised 18 months back. Middle School started working on it in the beginning of the session. The very name itself, Robongiers – an amalgamation of Robotics and Engineers – was the outcome of many brain-storming sessions with the students. The Creation of the logos as well as the trophies, after much thought and effort, went through multiple stages of the Design Process. So today what you have before you, as the final product, is completely indigenous.
