The surprisingly quiet Sri Ram School Team
#2 are working very hard on their Rope Runner project. Currently, they are
working on their presentation and are more than half done with their main
submission.

Keep going!

The Manav Rachnans, the Amitians and
probably everyone else, have been hard at work during the second round of
testing. Poring over programs or re-arranging the robots, no one seems to be sitting still! Few teams have been perfecting their
presentations and documentations as well, since a few will be presenting their
design process later in the day. Mentors
are also drifting around, NOT helping of course, but encouraging and
explaining. Nothing like a pat on the
back or a few words of advice to lift your floor-brushing spirits at times!
More updates later!

Today is the final day of Robongiers and all the teams have their hands on their Mindstorm kits. The schools have become frequent visitors to the atrium for testing their robots.

Nothing different is
happening. As usual, all the schools are working on their Lego mindstorm kit.
They are constantly checking their robots for mistakes and correcting them.
I wish all the schools best of luckDhruv Hajela, Grade 8
Right after snack, the teams were called to
the MPH 2, to be addressed by Mr. Andrew.
Mr. Andrew explained that they had about thirty five minutes until
11:30, when the presenting of the robots would start. As soon as Mr. Andrew finished explaining the
agenda, the buzz began and grew so quickly, one would think that they were on a sugar overload! Everyone scurried outside and within minutes the sound of wheels
screeching and squeaking, fast hands typing, and, cries of astonishment and
surprise (VERY loudly!) filled the atrium.
To be noted: Mr. Dasharha is changing the
rules around. And in the Explorer, there
is going to be a bit of water sprinkled on the sand, so it will be more
dense. Top secret information! Shhhhhh!
Stay tuned!

So today the participants are working towards
modifying their robots for the final contest. The teams were given a short
period of time to do a final test of their robots, almost all of them succeeded
and cheered with joy when they did, making all of us smile and cheer along with
them, glad their robots worked properly.
After they finish they have a special surprise waiting for them.
We wish them good luck, although they probably won’t need it.

A heady combination of nervousness and excitement is cooking up in the air, with each minute now! Yes, yes, it’s the FINAL ROUND!! The atrium is being cleared up of participants and a few people from eighth grade have gathered around, hoping for an exciting show, and let’s hope they get one! A couple of girls have been asked to sprinkle water on the Explorer’s sand, and with great joy they are, splashing the coolness over the sand and themselves. The teams are in the MPH, getting briefed by Mr. Dasharha and Mr. Andrew. They will be given ten minutes to prep up and smooth over any edges of their robot and then… LET THE COMPETITION BEGIN!!

Final Challenge
It’s
finally time for the final competition! The participants are rushing out to
test their robots one last time. Some people are nervously pacing while others
are prominently grinning and joking around. Most of the teams that are in
trouble have one reoccurring problem: their robots are not going up the
incline. We all wait with baited breath.

And, the time that we've all been waiting for... One of the final testings! Everyone was thrilled to showcase their creations and get them assesed by five judges. Of course, there was disappointment in the air when a team's robot misfunctioned, but I think this testing was the "baby" testing, for the Explorer was done without the barriers and the Rope Runner without ping-pong balls. Everyone has made unique, and different creations and I feel that sometimes trying is the same as winning. Both ways you learn new things and even though there is sometimes sadness, you will overcome it, eventually. I hope for the best, and I know I've said it once, but I'll say it again, MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN!
